Model: Seiko Credor “Phoenix” GCBR993 / 8L75-0A30

Year: July 1999

Features:

The Design. Far from being overcrowded, the Credor Phoenix's design is filled with subtle yet interesting details. Released in 2000, the glossy black dial is enhanced by five standout elements: the Ranger style hands, Red Accents, Porcelain-like indices, an Onyx Crown, and the nostalgic Crosshair Dial.

The Movement. The 8L75 movement inside is part of the 9S Grand Seiko family, having been built on the GS 9S55 movement. Not only were they designed by Grand Seiko’s Shizukuishi Studio, the 8L75 movements were also physically built by them too. Though officially rated at +/- 15 seconds per day, many of these Credor watches perform to the tighter tolerances of the 9S55, achieving an impressive +/- 5 seconds per day.

The Caseback. Credor’s artistry extends to its caseback, where the dial’s minimalism often gives way to intricate engravings. The GCBR995 features a phoenix motif that, while not as maximalist as the Credor Pacific GCBG975’s Clipper ship design, is no less captivating.

Condition: In great condition overall. However, there is a small mark in the metal edge of the 11 o'clock hour marker. The rest of the watch is in a very clean condition, but I'm offering at a significant discount (~$300) against my normal price. On an aftermarket leather strap, in keeping with the original design.

Scope: No box or papers.

Movement: Automatic 28,800 bph movement with 26 jewels
